An elaborate curriculum for teachers and their education that goes into depth about putting teachers at the centre of education and the need to give autonomy to institutions to build faith in the capacity and capability of teacher educators to evolve a detailed curriculum based on the suggestions in the curriculum. The curriculum is prescriptive and suggests education of teachers through pre-service training, in-service education, teacher preparation for alternative systems, teachers’ preparation for students with special needs and physical education, education of teacher’s educators and finally management of the system. In a first, the curriculum dedicates seven subsections to the education of teacher educators. The chapter identifies a range of ‘skills’ and ‘competencies’ that teacher educators need to be prepared with and lists 17 such competencies as objectives.
