About the Webinar The 2020 migrant crisis during the COVID-19 lockdown demonstrated an urgent need to strengthen social protection and service delivery for circular migrants in Indian cities. Existing solutions for migrants have been framed by the lens of labour, with the inadvertent outcome of pushing the concerns of women and children migrants to the periphery of migration policy. In cities, where social protection delivery is complicated by poor governance capacities, the ability of migrant women and children to access social protection and services is of particular concern.   Releasing a recent research study by UNICEF India and CPR, carried out across five states during the COVID-19 pandemic, the session will highlight challenges, good practices and emerging thinking on strengthening social protection for migrant women and children, focusing on sectors like nutrition, health and education, as well as governance processes and institutions. It will also bring together the insights of policy practitioners from both government and civil society on actionable ways to include migrant women and children in design and delivery of public services.                 Time        10:00 AM – 10:30 AM   Online via Zoom

About the Webinar

The 2020 migrant crisis during the COVID-19 lockdown demonstrated an urgent need to strengthen social protection and service delivery for circular migrants in Indian cities.
