About the Discussion:  There is an emerging consensus among the scholars that with the rise of BJP in 2014, India's second Republic is in the making, with new legislations and power-sharing arrangements fundamentally altering the old system. At the same time, the current moment also unravels the limitations of existing vocabulary to confront and explain evolving social changes. Is India undergoing a crisis in political thought? Basing the discussion mainly around Abhay Dubey’s recently released book 'Hindu Ekta Banaam Gyan ki Rajniti', this panel brings together scholars from different ideological strands to assess the nature of contemporary political discourse in India and its future implications.    About the Series: The CPR and Lokniti-CSDS 'Conversations on Indian Democracy' is a series of events that aims to make academic research more accessible to the general public. As institutions of high academic repute, CPR and Lokniti-CSDS have been at the helm of significant research about policy and politics in India.  This joint venture leverages the unique legacy of these institutions to further the scope of public discourse on important questions of democracy, politics and society in the country.
