Rajasthan’s water sector is characterised by a number of legal and policy instruments organised mainly on a sectoral basis. They are complex and fragmented in nature and application. In an attempt to address these issues, the Government of Rajasthan is implementing the state partnership program in the water sector since 2007. In the context of the state-wide water sector reforms under this program, a project has been sanctioned by the Government of Rajasthan to review and make recommendations to amend existing water bills (wherever necessary) and also to draft new bills in order to arrive at comprehensive water laws.This has led to the drafting of three new draft acts, the:

• Rajasthan Water (Conservation, Protection and Regulation) Act, 2015
• Rajasthan Water (Institutions) Act, 2015
• Rajasthan Irrigation Act, 2015

This National Consultation is organised to seek comments, suggestions and inputs towards the finalisation of the draft instruments. We would welcome your participation and inputs.
