The Centre for Policy Research is delighted to invite you to a talk on the Nagoya Protocol under the Convention on Biological Diversity by Anuradha R.V., Partner, Clarus Law Associates. This seminar is part of the International Law Seminar Series organized by the Group of International Lawyers in Delhi (GUILD), anchored at CPR.The Nagoya Protocol to the Convention on Biological Diversity was adopted at the tenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties on 29 October 2010, in Nagoya, Japan. It deals with “Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits Arising from their Utilization.” The Protocol is aimed at advancing the CBD’s objective on access and benefit sharing by dealing with issues relating to regulatory requirements of the countries providing genetic resources and those accessing such resources. Anuradha will lead the discussion on the Protocol and highlight issues under India’s domestic regulatory framework which need to be addressed in order to ensure effective implementation of the Protocol.   Speaker’s Biography: Anuradha R V is a Partner at Clarus Law Associates- a New Delhi based law firm, and works on trade policy, environmental law and competition law. She has also published a case study on access and benefit sharing between the Kani tribe in Kerala and the Tropical Botanic Garden Research Institute.
