The Built Environment sector is responsible for nearly 40% of carbon emissions and energy consumption, 50% of all extracted materials, 33% of water consumption and 35% of waste generated. The sector presents the tremendous untapped potential to help decarbonize the global economy while addressing the pressing climate risks that which global economy currently faces. A sustainable built environment also addresses environmental-societal issues, including energy security, resilience, equity, water and waste management, health, and well-being. These issues are at the centre of creating sustainable habitats and cities which are equitable and affordable to all sections of society.

The international conference looks to deliver multiple dialogues between academia, policymakers, institutions, industry, and society for a push towards a sustainable built environment in the future. The conference aligns with UN SDG goals and COP 26 agreements as the countries of the world push towards net zero carbon emissions. We solicit participation from academia, industry, and government on the issues of education, policy framework, technology, innovations, partnerships, and governance in the context of a sustainable built environment.

The two days conference also hosts half a day Australia-India Council (AIC) Grants Programme interactive panel discussion on education for achieving a net zero carbon-built environment as part of the project “Australian-Indian Zero-Carbon Construction Network”. This session will be hosted synchronously between Sydney and Noida and live-streamed worldwide (aibcnzero.wordpress.com/events/). The conference will include industry (1/2 day) and academic (1 day) sessions.
