His career at the United States Air Force War College has established him as one of the field’s most wide-ranging and rigorous voices in international security studies. Holding a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, Gupta has spent two decades asking consequential questions in contemporary global affair and his articles have appeared in Orbis, Asian Survey, Security Dialogue, PRISM, and The Round Table. He has contributed policy reports directly to the United Nations on conflict reintegration in Yemen and federal security structures in Somalia work that moves between scholarly inquiry and real-world consequence.
Alongside his work on nuclear doctrine, arms production, South Asian security, and Indo-Pacific strategy subjects addressed across eight authored and edited volumes, including Global Security Watch—India (Praeger), Strategic Stability in Asia (Ashgate), and Air Forces: The Next Generation (Howgate), he has pursued a parallel engagement with sport, film, and popular culture as lenses for understanding power, identity, and globalisation.
