Samagra Shiksha – an integrated scheme for school education, is Government of India’s (GoI’s) school education programme extending from pre-school to senior secondary stages. The scheme was launched in April 2018 to ensure equitable and inclusive quality education. Against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, this brief uses government data to analyse Samagra Shiksha performance based on:

Past trends in allocations, releases, and expenditures, including impact of the pandemic;
Component-wise budgets, with a focus on Information and Communications Technology (ICT); and
Readiness of schools following the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020, and the push towards digital education
