Nrusingh Charan Dhal is a Research Associate at the Centre for Policy Research working in the project, Scaling City Institutions for India (SCI-FI) initiative in Odisha. His role focuses on carrying out all community related activities, ensure bottom up planning, maintaining regular coordination betwwen state & city team and support the ongoing research activities for implementation of the programme at city level.
Before joining CPR, he has worked in a multi stake holder pilot project as Social Development Officer cum Team Leader under “Project Nirmal” at Practical Action for working with national and international teams on demonstration of sustainable sanitation service delivery for two towns of Odisha leading to increased coverage of households and institutions through enabling institutional and financial arrangements and increased private sector participation on sustainable Faecal Sludge Management (FSM )systems. He has been providing technical assistance to various Urban and Rural development programs of government with the assistance of different bilateral agencies and governments. Last 15 years he has worked extensively on areas and sectors of enviroment, local self-government, education, water and sanitation, housing and livelihood. He has worked with wide array of stakeholders including National and State government, Local governments- Panchayats and ULBs, Civil Society organisations , poor and marginalised communities in rural and urban Odisha. He has been working on Urban reform & programs covering of ULB sanitation service, livelihood promotion, infrastructure development, program implementation, assistance in review & performance monitoring, community mobilisation, capacity building, implementation roadmap, documentation, action research, policy advocacy and support for preparation of Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) , project planning & DPR preparation for slum dwellers. He holds a Master degree in Political Science from Utkal University, Vani Vihar, Bhubaneswar.
