CPR, ICRIER, IDF, NCAER, and NIPFP are pleased to invite you to the 5-Institute Budget Seminar on: The Union Budget 2020-21: Reforms and Development Perspectives

The Union Budget 2020-21 was be presented by the Honourable Minister of Finance, Ms Nirmala Seetharaman, on Feb 1st, 2020. This Union Budget is particularly important since it will be presented at a time when India’s growth has slowed to a decadal low and all eyes were on the FM when she presented her proposals. The Government has, in the last few weeks, shown intent by convening several diverse groups of stakeholders to gather ideas on the admittedly hard task to nurse the economy back to health. Some ideas were reflected in the Union Budget, while some kept in abeyance until the time is ripe for implementation, while others simply discarded. To critically examine what is in the Union Budget and what is not, the heads of five leading think tanks in the NCR will come together to share their reflective view and the longer-term implications for the Indian economy.

As you perhaps already know, the heads of the five institutes first came together in March 2007 to present a reform and development perspective of the Union Budget. And as we have done for the past 13 years, the five institutions will once again gather to present a deeper assessment of the Union Budget 2020-21. On behalf of our five institutions — CPR, ICRIER, IDF, NCAER, and NIPFP — it gives ICRIER great pleasure to invite you to the 5-Institute Budget Seminar 2020-21 on Saturday, February 8, 2020, at 10 am at the Multipurpose Hall, India International Centre, Lodi Estate, New Delhi.

Ms Shereen Bhan, Managing Editor, CNBC-TV18 will moderate the discussion and the Q&A with the audience.

Registration and tea and coffee will be available from 10 am onwards, we will start at 10:30 am sharp, and will end at 1:00 pm, followed by lunch.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday, February 8, for what should be an exciting and thought-provoking discussion.
