Curriculum Load at the School Level: A Quick Appraisal

An assessment of curricular load on pupils based on length of the prescribed course vis-a-vis availability of time, difficulty level of the course content vis-a-vis mental level of pupils, language used in textbooks and curriculum load in relation to other variables like teachers and societal conditions. It recommends following the core National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) curriculum, focusing on teaching languages, minimum syllabus and homework load, teacher training, provision of minimum facilities for teacher learning and no public examinations till class VIII.
