PMOST was implemented to emphasise the new thrusts in the NEP 1986. This included objectives such as (i) sensitize teachers to the emerging concerns in education, (ii) achieve UEE, (iii) use of learner-centred approach, (iv) equity in education and making education accessible to all sections of society, (v) teacher training and action research to understand the emerging role and responsibilities of teachers, enrichment of their knowledge in curricular areas, and (iv) achieving the MLLs.
