About the discussion:
The NDA’s sweeping victory in Bihar has surpassed all expectations. The panel will discuss the factors behind the massive mandate for the NDA, and why the opposition alliance miserably failed in putting up a credible challenge. The new entrant Jan Suraaj Party also failed to win any seat. Does the 2025 Bihar verdict signal a dramatic reconfiguration of voter behaviour, marked by unprecedented turnout, and the assertive presence of women voters?

The panel will also interrogate the implications of the historical closure of 1990s politics in the state. Bihar’s party system is consolidating around two nodes, and it is likely that smaller parties will hover between irrelevance and absorption. The verdict also opens up a new set of challenges for the incumbent, as well as the opposition.
