The Centre for Policy Research is delighted to present a panel at the Jaipur Literature Festival, 2020.

Climate change is no longer impending. We are currently in the throes of a grave environmental – and existential – crisis, and frighteningly aware of it. David Wallace-Wells’ latest book, expanded from his viral New York Times article, alerts us in unsparing detail to the extent of damage and despair awaiting us, and presses us to imagine more effective ways to negotiate the future. This urgent session – held at the Jaipur Literature Festival 2020, brings together a panel of environmental researchers and activists, and analyses the policy challenges involved in mitigating the greatest challenge humanity faces today.

About the Speakers

• Navroz K Dubash, a Professor at the Centre for Policy Research, is a Coordinating Lead Author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, was a member of India’s Expert Committee on Low Carbon Strategies, and recently edited India in a Warming World: Integrating Climate Change and Development (2019).
• Marcus Moench is the founder of ISET-International and has worked extensively on water, climate and urbanization, particularly in Asia.
• David Wallace-Wells is an American journalist known for his writings on climate change, and the author of The Uninhabitable Earth.
• British journalist and novelist John Lanchester is the recipient of the E. M. Forster Award. His latest books include The Wall and Capital.
• Independent columnist, veteran journalist, economist and writer Prem Jha is the author of Dawn of the Solar Age: An End to Global Warming and Fear, among other works, and writes extensively on the environment.
