About the Panel
Since the Covid-19 pandemic, when the magnitude of India’s internal migration caught widespread attention, the Government of India has pushed initiatives to improve access to welfare for mobile low-income populations, most visibly through E-Shram registrations and One Nation One Ration Card. Now, the Election Commission of India seeks to enable remote voting to address the political exclusion of migrant workers owing to their inability to vote. On the occasion of National Voters Day, the panel will speak to how this is being envisaged and debate the kind of effects this move could have on politics, citizenship and mobility.
