About the Talk:
India has made rapid progress in expanding non-fossil energy capacity, surpassing 50 per cent of total installed power much ahead of schedule and recording significant renewable energy additions in recent years. This shift marks not only a turning point in India’s climate commitments, but also an important moment for industrial transformation and employment generation.

This talk will present a manifesto of the Networked Green Economy, a blueprint to transition India from a “Take-Make-Waste” legacy to a $1.1 Trillion Green Dividend by 2047. It will examine how India’s green transition can be leveraged as a source of large-scale employment, with a focus on renewable energy, electric mobility, and decentralised energy systems, including the growing role of household and rooftop solar initiatives. It will explore how these changes could reshape regional economies, create new forms of work, and support workforce transitions in carbon-intensive and legacy sectors.

The discussion will situate the green transition within India’s longer-term goals towards Viksit Bharat 2047, and reflect on the policy choices required to ensure that this transformation is economically productive, socially inclusive, and institutionally durable.
