Nona Uppal was a Research Assistant at the CPR Initiative on Climate Energy and Environment (CPR-ICEE). She joined ICEE in June 2020. At CPR, she was working specifically on matters related to air pollution, air quality, and regulatory agencies associated with these matters. She was assisting efforts to build an air quality website under ICEE through her research on mapping the regulatory structure for air quality initiatives and interventions in India.
Prior to joining CPR, Nona worked as a Legislative Assistant to a Member of Parliament, as a fellow under PRS’ LAMP fellowship. Alongside a Member of Parliament in Lok Sabha, she worked on an draft amendment to the Air Act, 1981 and handled the inception and work under the Parliamentarian’s Group for Clean Air. During her fellowship, she organised a range of air quality round-table discussions, provided research support for opinion pieces, and authored a chapter alongside the Parliamentarian on the impacts of COVID-19 on India’s foreign policy.
She holds an undergraduate degree in Political Science from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, in addition to a Diploma in Conflict Transformation and Peacebuilding. During her undergraduate program, she was an avid debater, amassing several accolades across national debating tournaments.
