Sonakshi Sharma is a Research Associate at the State Capacity Initiative at CPR. Her research focuses on ethnographically studying the cases of successful governance, in order to delineate factors which contributed to institutional success. She is also involved with the Moral Economy Survey project.
Prior to joining CPR, she finished her MSc in Social Anthropology, from the London School of Economics. As part of her undergraduate degree, she majored in History and minored in Sociology from Shiv Nadar University. During her undergraduate studies, she was awarded the second rank in a University wide competition, for her research on sports and gender in India, that explored the role of institutional policies created by the government in encouraging potential athletes to choose sport as a livelihood option.
Her MSc dissertation investigated how the practices of recruitment and training by the Indian government, create a discursive domain, which defines the ‘ethical IAS officer’.
