Challenge of Education: A Policy Perspective

This report was tabled in the parliament and presents a broad approach to education before the launch of the 1986 national policy of education to recommend reforms on existing challenges like retention and dropouts, non-formal education, teachers and their emoluments, and expenditure. Non-formal mode of education through socially useful productive work (SUPW) and strengthening teacher-learning process were stated to be crucial to a critical appraisal of elementary education.
